Employers are bound by E.U. legislation to provide sight tests for employees who use V.D.U.'s. The practicalities of fulfilling this obligation can often mean disruption to the workplace and the daily schedule of the business.

The basic sight test for eyewear can occasionally highlight other eye and general health issues requiring further evaluation by an ophthalmologist, thus necessitating referral via the patient's (i.e. the employee's) general practitioner to the hospital eye service. This generates anxiety for the employee and entails time off work.

Our aim is to provide for employees of companies of any size thorough medical ophthalmic examinations in addition to the basic sight test, in well equipped premises conveniently located in the north-west of Edinburgh. We can also open in the evenings by prior arrangement, which means less disruption to your, the employer's, business.

In order to help you satisfy your statutory V.D.U. responsibility we can provide an initial screening process to eliminate those without optical problems who do not need further evaluation, dramatically reducing costs. For 30 or more employees requiring full sight testing, we can offer on-site facilities at your own premises at no extra charge within Lothian.
